Eli's Place

Circular grove of cedars
Strikes fear in the hearts of insects
Protecting us from the outside world
As if a new Eden, before original sin infects

Questioning the promise, the potential
of a new world beyond our bended fortress
The questions remain, in fact, they grow louder
Swelling until, at last, one answer must be courted

Carve a hole through such a sturdy encampment
Under the blanket of stars, the Warden remained unaware
Too dark to determine if the rumors were true
And the answers, for tonight, continue to elude

Dawn crests over the ever expanding lake
With the calm and quiet enjoyed with snowfall at night
Without a gust of wind or cloud in the sky
You, Explorer, follow every trail under our star’s shine

In this moment
Of perfect clarity
Our shared source of life
Is both all-common and a rarity

Outside and inside
Freedom and protection
Living is more than
Winning or avoiding detection.
