Our Mission

Nantucket; early morning of January 20th, 2019

Originally based on the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts, Poet Orchard formed as a collective of writers and artists searching for a place to band together and share their art during winter’s isolation.

Now spanning several states in New England, we’ve expanded our values into other features of life. Through the crafts of poetry and story telling, we revel in the joy of a world we wish to create, and in galvanizing our society to act, pulling such a world into being.

So join us and take action! This project relies on the ideas-exchange of our writers and readers. Therefore, we urge all idealists and dreamers to participate in the building of Poet Orchard as a conduit for collaborative practice in:

1.) Advancing universal freedom of expression,
2.) Strengthening dignity building by embedding democratic protocols within our organization,
3.) Promoting decentralization to encourage all contributing writers to start their own writing clubs & workshops, and
4.) Outlining the potential of a flourishing democracy based on stories from our descendants’ past.
