Deeply embedded within Poet Orchard, our ethos of decentralized creativity rings throughout. We believe highly in each other’s intuition and passion-driven writing. Furthermore, we derive an infectious joy from discussing written work, politics & policies, spirituality, and how we can improve people's quality of life. Ultimately, we’re looking for Contributing Writers who ask questions with intense curiosity and hope.

Once you pass the introductory phase, you will have earned the role of Contributing Writer. *

This position includes:

1.) Complete autonomy to write and publish your own work on your own schedule.

2.) Host workshops and writing groups in your neck of the woods with promotion on Poet Orchard.

3.) Read and approve new submissions to post on Poet Orchard with other Contributing Writers.

4.) Review, vote, and offer feedback on our Quarterly Magazine: Seedlings on the Wind.

5.) Vote for, and propose, new internal processes to maintain our democratic values.

How to Become a Contributing Writer:

The Introductory Phase:

Once 6 of your poems, short stories, or essays receive approval for posting on Poet Orchard, you will receive an invitation to join us as a Contributing Writer. This Introductory Phase should be completed within 3-6 months of submitting your first written piece.

We highly value consistent writing over an extended period of time, although we understand if genius strikes all at once.
