Guidelines
Please submit all writing in PDF format if possible, to avoid formatting mishaps. We want to make sure we see your poems the way you intend them to be received!
Page numbers please! No restrictions on size or font - go crazy.
If you are submitting more than one poem, make it clear! Titles, page separation, and formatting go a long way (and make it easier for us to get back to you quickly!).
If responding to a Monthly Prompt, please include the theme in your subject line.
For General Submissions, the subject line should read “General Submission.”
We encourage all voices and perspectives to submit your jotted down genius.
Expect a response (whether negative or positive) within two weeks of your submission. If your piece is not accepted this go-round, try again!
If you haven’t checked out our Who We Are page, you can discover ways to join us as a Contributing Writer (that means you don’t have to receive approval!)
We accept simultaneous submissions—let us know if your work gets picked up elsewhere and if there is a conflict of interest, we will accommodate. (P.S. Congrats!).
We seek work that isn’t afraid to dream of a world beyond our current circumstance, uninhibited by expectation, seeking to make our inner workings accessible. We urge all idealists and dreamers to participate in the building of Poet Orchard as a conduit for collaborative practice.
Write with pure intent. We will receive in kind.
Monthly Prompts
For us, inspiration springs from a whole host of refreshing basins within, and beyond, our lives. On the first of each month, we release various prompts based around a specific theme, including photography, art, music, podcasts, and related articles in hopes of provoking a torrent of thought within, and beyond, each other.
