American Anecdote

I am an anecdote.

An American one at that.

I exemplify

Soviet-American relations.

I give you,

the renowned diplomat,

George Kennan,

himself.

Two cross eyed men bumped

into each other in Philadelphia.

One said:

”Why in the hell

don’t you look where you’re going?”

To which the other replied:

“Why in hell

don’t you go

where you are looking?”

We are a prickly bunch,

to be sure,

but I view all

my cross eyed brethren

with twice the love as others.

I hold no scorn,

doubled down

and worn.
